Regrettably at the start of 2015, for a couple of family reasons (and because we needed a breather after 22 seasons without a break!), we decided to stop offering Bed and Breakfast.  Our apologies to the many guests who have stayed before and had wished to return, as well as to potential first timers who have spotted our accommodation on other adverts or listings.

Out of the main school holiday periods, we continue to be happy to offer the self-catering cottages for short breaks of 3,4 or 5 nights.  Please see the Cottages pages for full details of each cottage, and the Prices & Booking page for availability and details of pricing for short breaks, and then contact us to check that we can fit in your requirements.

Each room has en-suite shower, toilet and wash basin (with H & C), and is equipped with easy-chairs, colour TV, clock radio, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. A separate bathroom is also available for guests' use. The guests' dining-room/lounge is located on the ground floor. Breakfast is normally served between 8.15 and 9.15am. Guests have full use of all the facilities at Muddlebridge, but must provide their own swimming towels. Smoking is not permitted in bedrooms or the dining room, and, regrettably, we do not accept dogs in the house. Although we do not offer an evening meal, there are half a dozen pubs/restaurants within a few minutes' drive which offer a varied selection of good food at reasonable prices.

  7. Please also read General Conditions of Tenancy (below) for additional useful information, although that section applies mainly to guests staying in our self-catering cottages

General Conditons of Tenancy

Please ensure you have read the General Conditions of Tenancy before completing a reservation form

  1. Cottages and facilities are available from 3.00 pm on day of arrival (please no earlier), and should be vacated by 10.00 am on day of departure. If guests expect to arrive later than 6.00 pm, please notify us in advance.
  2. The number of guests staying in each cottage must not exceed the designated number of bed spaces, except when a cot is used for one additional baby/toddler. In some cottages, space for a cot is limited; please check before booking. If a cot is required within the number of bed spaces, there is no charge; if it exceeds the bed spaces, there is a weekly charge of £30.
  3. Cots (full size, with safety mattress), high chairs, stair-gates and bed-guards are available by prior booking. We do not supply cot linen/bedding.
  4. Double beds in Thatchers, Millers, Potters and Weavers are kingsize (5' wide), also 3" longer than standard-sized double beds (4'6") in the other cottages. The single beds in the twin-bedded room of Millers cannot be pushed together due to the shape of the room, whereas in other twin rooms, they can be.
  5. Bed linen (for polyester-filled duvets and pillows) is included in the rental price. If guests prefer to bring their own sheets for use with the blankets available in each cottage, please inform us at time of booking. Guests are expected to provide their own towels (for bathroom and pool), and any table linen required, but towels are available to hire for overseas guests and those arriving by cycle or public transport (£2 per towel).
  6. By prior arrangement, one well-behaved dog is allowed per cottage (but not in the main house), for which a weekly charge of £15 is made. Dogs are accepted on the understanding that they are kept under control on a lead in the grounds, are not left unsupervised in the cottage or allowed onto chairs or beds. Dogs must be toileted outside the grounds.
  7. Charges for electricity and gas used in the cottages, are included in the rental price. The washing machine and dryer in the Guests' Laundry Room are coin-operated (typically £1.50 per wash; dryer is 50p per half-hour, but there is ample outdoor washing-line).
  8. The games rooms are open between 9.30 am and 9.00 pm daily. Pool and football tables are 20p per game.
  9. The swimming pool building is not supervised. All children under 16 years must therefore be supervised by a responsible adult (over 18) from their family/party at all times in the pool and building. For safety reasons, we regret that adult guests are not permitted to swim alone in the pool.
  10. The swimming pool, heated to 81°F, and sauna are open from 9.30 am - 8.00 pm daily (except Saturday's, 2.00 - 8.00 pm) in main season, but close about dusk in off-season periods. The sauna is operated by a £1 coin, which provides a 30-45 minute session.
  11. Non-residents are welcome to visit guests staying in the cottages. For security and insurance purposes, visitor names and vehicle details must be notified in advance, and daily charges for non-residents' use of facilities (£4 per swim) paid prior to use.
  12. Guests are expected to look after the furnishings, fixtures and equipment in their cottage during the period of occupancy, and to leave it in a clean and tidy condition on departure. If any furniture is moved during occupancy, it must be returned to its original location prior to departure. Any damage must be notified immediately, and breakage or loss of crockery, glassware, etc. paid for.
  13. The proprietors are not responsible for, and cannot accept any liability for, any injury sustained in the cottages, main house, swimming pool or grounds. Nor can they accept liability for any damage or loss to clothing, personal items or vehicles belonging to guests.
